2020 Competitions Cancelled

Bendigo Competitions Society, with much regret, advises that the 2020 competitions have been cancelled due to COVID19.

Much consideration has been given to holding an abbreviated Dance Competition but due to recent changes with COVID 19, the Committee believes it is in the best interests of our competitors, their families, our volunteers, and the broader community that this does not proceed.

The Committee wishes all of our music and dance competitors and the greater eisteddfod community good health through this current COVID journey.  We encourage you to keep working on and enjoying your passion for music and dance throughout this challenging time.

We look forward to seeing you all together in 2021 for the exciting competition we plan! If anyone is interested in assisting our small committee in preparing for our 95th annual events in 2021 we would be so grateful to hear from you.

Until then, stay safe and stay well!

POSTPONEMENT OF EISTEDDFOD 2020 – RE COVID-19

Bendigo Competitions Society is postponing the Bendigo Competitions 2020 after consideration of the health advice re COVID-19.  The Committee thanks everyone for their understanding and patience as we as a community work through this difficult period.

As you are aware this is a rapidly evolving situation.  We want to assure our competitors, families, teachers and volunteers that we will be working towards the event running later in 2020 and will be negotiating with venues and adjudicators towards this end.

This decision has not been made lightly and has been made to ensure that the health of all involved in this prestigious event is maintained.  Updates will be provided as they come to hand.

Welcome to our 95th Eisteddfod

2020 marks a big year in the history of our Society. With barely a break over 95 years, we have managed to make it through many difficult times and created so many wonderful memories in this time. The committee is looking forward to celebrating this milestone with all of its members, volunteers, audience members and competitors this year.

We hope to gain a bigger presence in the community and encourage everyone to spread the word! The committee is very small, so if you or anyone you know is interested in joining as an associated member or volunteer, please contact us.

As you may have seen, our 2020 schedule is up and music entries are now open! Dance entries will open soon and our official 95th Eisteddfod launch date will be revealed, so do watch Facebook for notifications.

BENDIGO’S 94TH ANNUAL EISTEDDFOD HAS COME TO AN END!

After six weekends of music covering all genres – piano, brass, orchestral instruments, classical vocal, contemporary vocal, school choirs, and schools instrumental which commenced in May and culminated in the Leila Watson Memorial Championship; Classical and Theatrical Dance commenced on 29th June and ran for fourteen consecutive days finishing on 12th July 2019 with the Foundry Invitational Championship in the evening.

The event was highly successful this year and we can’t wait to facilitate our 95th Annual Eisteddfod in 2020. Growth areas of the competitions continue to be the Contemporary Vocal sections and Dance. For these particular disciplines, people have come in large numbers from across the state and also interstate. The committee hopes in 2020 we see all of our disciplines strengthen and grow in entries so please spread the word.

We’d like to thank each and every one of our competitors, their dedicated families and of course our generous volunteers who selflessly donate their time, energy and talents to ensure the competition continues to run successfully.
